Getting outside more, means more risks for dirt, mud, grass, and other stains. Use these tips to help keep your clothes in good condition all summer long! SUNSCREEN STAINS
Be sure to wear your sunscreen while hanging out in the sun! If you get some on your clothes (near the neck and armholes are most common) use a stain remover and gently brush these areas to treat them before throwing them in the washing machine. Just be sure to check the care label on your clothes, and use the right temperature setting to lower the risk of having the stains set in.
BARBECUE SAUCE STAINS
Yum, barbecue sauce! Accidents happen but you can be prepared in knowing how to remove a sauce stain quickly. Remove most of the sauce immediately but avoid rubbing can cause a deeper or more widespread stain. Run the affected clothing under cold water and apply laundry detergent or stain remover to the spot to pretreat the area.
DIRT AND MUD STAINS
Mud can be stubborn, so it's best to let the area dry completely before removing. Use a butter knife to chip away the dry dirt and soak the clothes in some heavy-duty laundry detergent to help loosen up any remaining particles. After the soak, use a stain remover on any stubborn affected areas and wash in cold water.
GRASS STAINS
Grass stains are notorious for being tough and known for being stubborn even with pretreatment! It's best to pre-treat the area right away but if they are set in, you can soak the stain for 15 minutes in a solution of two parts water to one part white vinegar. Take a clean white rag and gently dab the area to remove the stain, then wash with an enzyme-based laundry detergent. The enzymes will help lift the protein off the fabric.
